Margaret Sue Turner Wright . . . is the first born child of Curtis and Ann Turner. Sue was born on the day that her father won his first race, August 31, 1947, in Covington, Virginia. The racing legend had converted his talent of running moonshine into a career in professional stock car racing. Sue's first 23 years were spent in the limelight of this racing legend. From Sports Illustrated to Life magazine, Sue was a part of it all. She lived in Charlotte, North Carolina, Indianapolis, Indiana, Denver, Colorado, and Roanoke, Virginia all in pursuit of Curtis's passion for racing and for selling timberland.
Sue was one of the first participants at the Safe High Speed Performance Driving School at the "New" Charlotte Motor Speedway, which Curtis Turner built. She lived the life of a celebrity, speaking to Elvis Presley (who was a Curtis Turner fan) and living center stage at the raceways, from Daytona to Rockingham.
Today, Sue is a full-time Mom and grandmother. The mother of 5 children and one granddaughter, Sue is also an award winning full time artist. She has exhibited her work for many years throughout the region and is available for commissions.
Sue is self taught in guitar and banjo. She also founded the Life Arts School of Music, Art and Dream Interpretation.
Sue is a Founding Member of our Advisory Board, working alongside her husband, Barry Wright. Her dedication to the arts makes Margaret Sue Turner Wright a caring and important member of our board and a real assest to our film office.

My Artist's Statement
It has been my experience, that Art opens the door to creativity, compassion, and Spiritual perspective, as it concerns a wholeness and connectedness to all humanity. To create depth of form thru line, color and values, is a reawakening of a certain perspective that allows us to both “see”, and be the object that is “seen”. I have become aware that the ability to look at Life is closely akin to the ability to look at one’s self, and affords an inner growth thru this creative act. Whatever the level of artistic endeavor and caring, the mere act of expressing ourselves in such a creative way, not only adds to our own enjoyment in life, but also adds to our own level of appreciation, which in turn adds to our own beauty.
I also feel that Beauty and Goodness go hand in hand, as one can not really exist without the other. It is my endeavor therefore, to increase the Beauty in the world, however I am nourished by the goodness of my Soul in each artistic endeavor.
My inspirations from the artists in the past are the Masters of Classical painting, and the Impressionists. From Rubens, Leonardo De Vinci, and Renoir, I feel a great sense of the Passion for art, and am inspired by their virtues of patience and stillness, as seen in their Mastery of light, form and values, and their skills in the execution of the painting. My favorite subject matter is more akin to the candid day to day activities in life, as was the case with Norman Rockwell.
Most sincerely,
Margaret Sue Turner Wright
