Lynda Troutt Murphy . . . is a native of Roanoke, Virginia. From 1973 to 1998 Lynda Murphy was a professional animal trainer/breeder and owned/managed a large shooting preserve in Oklahoma. Her expertise was training and breeding sporting breeds in Oklahoma, Texas and Wisconsin. During her training years she carried a camera in the field instead of a gun and has a huge collection of sporting dog fine art.
Lynda attended the University of Central Oklahoma and Virginia Tech with a focus in Journalism. She graduated from Mary Baldwin College with a degree in Business Management. She did a four year independent study in photography through Virginia Western under the supervision of Martin (Marty) Church and Ellen Munger.
She is a professional photographer and owns Murphy’s, Inc. at murphysphoto.com (will open in a new browser window), an e-commerce business for photography and photographic supplies. Her speciality is black and white gelatin silver prints and most recently Giclée prints. She was inspired at an early age by her grandfather who was a photographer in WWI & WWII. As a child she spent time in the dark room with him and loved to see the images come to life in the chemistry.
Lynda is single, has one daughter, Erin Murphy, and currently resides in Roanoke City. We look forward to her valuable contribution to the Blue Ridge - Southwest Virginia Film Office Board of Directors!
