
William B. Zimmerman, Jr., (Bill) . . . , is a native of Covington, Virginia, and currently serves as Vice-Mayor of that City. Bill also serves on two area economic development committees. Because of his strong interest in economic development, Bill, along with Mayor Temple Kessinger, and City Manager John Holpe, became charter members and were elected to the board of directors of the Blue Ridge - Southwest Virginia Film Office, Inc.
Bill has a radio broadcasting background. He started his career as a radio announcer at WKEY in Covington, later moving to WXCF in Clifton Forge, and WDBJ in Roanoke. For seven years Bill was part owner of WSLW and WKCJ in White Sulphur Springs and Lewisburg, West Virginia. He owned and operated Celebration TV for five years. During that time, Bill produced three weekly religious programs which were broadcast on Covington's local cable system.
Bill has co-anchored a Heart Fund Radiothon at WKEY each year for nearly 35 years. For 15 years he directed the annual Heart Fund Beauty Pageants. During those years, the area Heart Fund raised more money, per capita, than any other community in Virginia.
His other media credits include production of: slide shows; video training programs; 16mm short film; and, industrial newsletters.
